Partisan’s latest signing is a Brooklyn five-piece that goes by the name Geese (insert some joke about them being a “gaggle” here). They’ve shared their debut single “Disco,” which molts like a snake in an identity crisis (in a good way)—its shifting nature recalls garage-bands-turned-major arena rock groups like The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, and The Killers.

The main draw of “Disco” is the noodling guitar and vivid lyricism. Images of nearly puking in a van, crying one’s eyes out in a bathroom, and a thrown drink as response to a come-on flash throughout—both as clichés of a messy evening and rights of passage for youths trying to maneuver the chaos of a late night.

The group shared some insight on their first release: “It’s a very urgent and restless song, which was indicative of all our headspaces at the time. ‘Disco’ has a lot of organized chaos at its core; the music, the lyrics, and even the way we recorded it all speak to a sort of manic energy we were all working through. It’s a song that sounds like it’s perpetually on the verge of collapse—and yet it always manages to keep itself together.”
