Today, hardcore fans awoke to a pleasant surprise from beloved Baltimore group Turnstile: The band dropped a surprise EP Turnstile Love Connection last night, following the recent release of their single “MYSTERY.” This is the first release from the group since last year’s collab EP with Mall Grab titled Share a View.

The opening track “Holiday” is a hypnotic punch in the gut, while the following “No Surprise” cleans off the grime as a refreshing shower of synths. Turnstile Love Connection is further proof of how well the band can introduce unexpected genres into the typically self-contained realm of hardcore. The EP’s title track contains a shoutout to Sly & the Family Stone, for example, with a house music transition.

The four-track project also comes with a short film directed by vocalist Brendan Yates. There’s lots of slow-motion running. It’s cool. Watch it all below.
