Last month, Andy Hull and Robert McDowell from Manchester Orchestra sat down with us to talk about some of the more unexpected directions the bands went in on their latest collection of songs, The Million Masks of God—and it turns out this was the exact type of experimentation outside of their post-hardcore comfort zone that leads to their peers reworking the album’s tracks as more danceable numbers. Today, the band is sharing one such remix from Local Natives, who turned the glitching, anxious track into something considerably more upbeat.
On the remix, Hull’s gruff vocals contrast with the falsettos and pitch-up squeaks familiar to the microhouse genre. There’s still a sense of brooding to the track, though overall it’s a pretty playful retooling. Hear it below.
