binki, the Pennsylvania musician born to Kenyan immigrants, announced his debut EP Motor Function last month with the bass-heavy “Clay Pigeon.” Today, he’s returned with the punk-meets-arcade-game-soundtrack “Revolve.”

The Nate Donmoyer–produced track is a tug-of-war between binki and a force that wants to take it all without reciprocating. His words are playful as he shouts, “Over the moon / My little dipper,” before turning complicated: “Want to erase me / I won’t let it.” A roaring bass anchors the track with a motoric drum machine. Synths howl in the background. It’s all a bit of a rush.

Binki revealed that “Revolve” is “about magnetism. “Opposites attract and all that, but also the opposite is true. For better or worse. What pulls us together and what pushes us apart?” Motor Function is coming August 13 and is described in the press release as a pack of “anti-love songs.”
