In exactly one month from today, George Lewis Jr. will release Eclipse—his third LP as Twin Shadow, first album for Warner Bros., and one of our most anticipated albums of 2015. After the slightly secretive, stand-alone release of the album’s first single, “Turn Me Up,” last year, Lewis tried to speak about his musical transition to a sound slightly closer to pop with Scott Auckerman, but somehow his voice was drowned out by Auckerman’s own voiceover.
Luckily, Twin Shadow’s brand-new single “I’m Ready” speaks for itself. A sung-spoken intro starts the track, “There’s a boy in a car / At the top of a hill / Looking down at LA,” and suddenly the listener is off with Lewis on a grand journey of being open to love in the second largest city in America. Layered vocals and an epically vast sonic space full of driving synths immediately make “I’m Ready” the perfect track for almost any movie trailer. Just imagine an A-lister running through downtown Los Angeles trying to catch his love interest before she makes the biggest mistake of her life as you listen to the song below.
Eclipse is out March 17 on Warner Bros.
