There’s certainly no shortage of electro-pop on the marketplace these days, but when something from within the genre hits, it hits. Say hello, then, to Elin Berlin and Johan Angergård, who make up the newly-born group Eternal Death, a Swedish duo who have taken the most gloomy name imaginable to create their own fresh and lively brand of glistening pop.
Ahead of their self-titled debut album out next week, the group have released the swirling video for the track “Violence,” a slow-stomping banger that acts as a worthy manifesto for what the duo are setting out to accomplish on and off the darkened dancefloor.
Of the fluttering, dream-like experience, Berlin has some words of wisdom to contextualize it:
“Violence” is the like a heavy-hearted youth in revolt; born out of boredom, searching for something, anything. Always afraid of not doing enough, being enough. So when it came to making a music video those were the thoughts and emotions I wanted to bring forth. More specifically I wanted to recreate that feeling of total tranquility, almost paralysis, in the midst of hectic stress and excitement.
The name Eternal Death is starting to make sense, huh? Check out the video for “Violence” below.
Eternal Death is out February 24 via Labrador Records.
