A couple week ago, two of today’s most shocking, sometimes terrifying, and all-around innovative artists teamed up for a song named after a cultural trend that thrust Pete Davidson into a different kind of celebrity status. “BDE” by Shygirl and Slowthai was unconcerned with bad or boring sex—now there’s an unforgettable, furry visual to accompany the bass-bouncing club hit.
With a track as blunt as “BDE,” Shygirl and Slowthai have a bit of fun with its visual. So, there are a lot of rabbits. The Shygirl-directed video, with creative direction by Mischa Notcutt, seems to pay homage to the long-eared mammals with a love for boning. I’m sure the touch of a purple carrot wasn’t only an aesthetic one. Along with an homage to Bug Bunny with the intro, the “BDE” video is witty, and of course a bit unhinged. Word aren’t even enough.
