Earlier this summer, Irish songwriter Orla Gartland announced her debut album Woman on the Internet, which will compile a handful of her singles and other tried-and-tested-live tunes accumulated over the years. Most recently, Gartland shared the coming-of-age self-pep-talk “You’re Not Special, Babe,” which employs catchy hooks as a way to ease the title’s much-needed mantra into Gartland’s brain, as well as her listeners’.
Today she’s following that release—and its choreographed video—with a live recording and visual of the track, which takes her, her band, and a few guests back to the studio in which the album was recorded. “This version of ‘You’re Not Special, Babe’ is so special to me,” she shares. “I recorded it with my band and a cast of all-star friends (Nathan Cox, Greta Isaac, Martin Luke Brown, and dodie) at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, England, where we recorded the album. Dan Broadley who directed and shot the session captured the energy perfectly—after so long without shows it felt incredible to play this song live.”
