2020 was a year of devastating loss, including the passing of West Philadelphia rapper Chynna. Since her death in April of last year, there have been a few singles released. Today, another one called “seasonal depression pt. 2” was shared, along with the news that the album drug opera is getting a posthumous album release on August 20. It comes a day after her 27th birthday.

drug opera was in the works before Chynna’s passing, said a press release. “It is with her family’s wishes that the music is released unaltered from her vision, including the project’s name. Minor production edits were made due to some clearance issues.”

“seasonal depression pt. 2” is a companion piece to 2017’s “seasonal depression” off music 2 die 2. It was also produced by Suicideyear, like its predecessor, along with Nedarb.  The track captures that catch-22 feeling when the weather turns cold and bitter. “Wanna keep living but wanna stop trying,” she raps on an opening line. Later, her vocals become cavernous against ticking hi-hats and delicate piano.
