Chicago-based musician Tasha released one of my favorite tracks of the year this past spring with “Would You Mind Please Pulling Me Close.” Today, she’s returned with another gorgeous single called “Lake Superior.” “I think this song is my way of being there for my mom and telling her I’m there for her, even if it’s a few years too late,” Tasha said of the song.

“Lake Superior” is a light in this grief-filled life. Guitar strums move swiftly in the background as Tasha’s honeyed vocals recall the memory of scattering her grandma’s ashes at the lakefront. The track later swells with strings. “So much joy we can cling to / Even if the missing don’t stop,” goes one powerful line.

The single also comes with a video that depicts Tasha running in a field and dancing on a beach. It’s precious. Watch it below and also find her upcoming tour dates.
