Punk, alternative, metal, and rap heroes of the past and present collided at Chicago's Douglass Park this past weekend, as Riot Fest returned with a stacked three-day line-up (plus an opening night preview event on Thursday). Everyone from Morrissey and Smashing Pumpkins to Run the Jewels and Vic Mensa to Slipknot and Coheed and Cambria played main stage slots, while former Warped Tour luminaries such as Alkaline Trio, Motion City Soundtrack, and Thursday found a home with endearing fans that most other festivals don't embrace. Photographer Timothy Hiatt says "every joint in my body hurts" after three days and four nights braving the pits to document the annual festival's highlights, but survived with a cavalcade of great images.
