A few weeks ago, multi-hyphenate musician Sega Bodega released the captivating single “Only Seeing God When I Come.” Now, the producer has shared a follow-up track called “Angel on My Shoulder,” along with the news of his next album Romeo that’s arriving November 12. Following last year’s Salvador, this sophomore release will feature Arca and Charlotte Gainsbourg on the track list.

“Angel on My Shoulder” contains another beautiful yet chilling concept. Sega shared about the track, “I was trying to propose the idea that guardian angels are just friends we never met, who died young or were just never born.” It’s this kind of thought process that transcends Bodega’s visceral electronic production.

Sega Bodega builds a bridge for us to cross over, listening to the guiding voices that inhabit a cold, distant place. The single opens with blown-out bass that fades into the background and which is overcome by skittering beats and pearly piano chords. Child-like backing vocals beckon us further into this beguiling realm. At song’s end, there’s a coo-filled handclap breakdown, which turns the track from haunting to nearly joyful.
