Lunar Vacation wasn’t official until the band’s members Grace Repasky and Maggie Geeslin were able to drive, gaining the freedom to play stages around Atlanta, eventually recruiting Matteo DeLurgio on synth and drummer Connor Dowd. Speaking of cars, their latest single “Where Is Everyone?” is a perfect driving song—it’s easy to imagine a winding, tree-lined road mirroring its wormy guitar riffs while wind blows through the windows during the buzzy chorus. “Where Is Everyone?” is the group’s fourth single off their forthcoming album Inside Every Fig Is a Dead Waspwhich is out October 29.

The song’s narrative is based around two people caught in a relationship that exposes their opposing mindsets. “It’s a story of two people who were too different to make a relationship work,” vocalist Respasky explains. “Although both have good intentions and good hearts, some pairs don’t go well together But there is something beautiful about trying out a relationship with someone who is incredibly opposite from you; there is a lot to learn, and you have to accept the outcome of what happens. Timing is everything.” They poetically capture this complicated dynamic during the chorus: “Two well-headed loves / Made from opposite dreams / An unlikely pair seemed so fitting to me / You’ll just know part, not the entirety / Of a moment.”
