Wye Oak Give Us Pounding Arena Rock on “Half a Double Man”

The track arrives ahead of their double-LP reissue Civilian + Cut All the Wires: 2009–2011, out October 22.

Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner, the masterminds behind Wye Oak, are releasing a 10-year anniversary double-LP reissue titled Civilian + Cut All the Wires: 2009–2011 on October 22 via Merge. It includes the duo’s breakthrough album Civilian and an unreleased album from that same era. The latest look at the release comes in the form of the single “Half a Double Man,” a previously unheard track from the Civilian sessions.

In a press release, Wasner said: “I think this song is about (it was over 10 years ago, after all) coming to the realization that you can never fully satisfy all the parts of yourself simultaneously, especially when they are at odds with one another. The best you can hope for is some sort of half-reconciliation, a truce that exists in that place of: not everything, but just enough.”
