Shamir has not stopped since releasing his self-titled album last year. Since then, we’ve gotten two gorgeous covers—one of a Sharon Van Etten track, one of Billie Eilish—and today we get an original song titled “Gay Agenda” where Shamir declares his power and denounces any lame-os who can’t  keep up.

Over slow, punching, industrial drums and programmed strings, Shamir gives us a reason to break free. “Don’t underestimate the power I keep,” he sings quietly with pride. “You’re just stuck in the box that was made for me,” goes one line during the chorus. “Free your mind, come outside / Pledge allegiance to the gay agenda.”

“‘Gay Agenda’ is a song about radical acceptance internally and externally,” Shamir said of the single. “We are only leasing our lives, so we gotta make it our own.”

The new song comes with a video directed by Jenny He, which you can watch below.
