It’s been just over a month since Kayla Graninger released her debut album under the moniker Elke after putting out a pair of EPs in 2018 and 2020, having tapped Paramore drummer Zac Farro (who’s also been putting out solo music under the moniker HALFNOISE lately) for production duties. The pair are about to hit the road for a string of dates in Nashville, NYC, and LA to promote No Pain for Us Here in November, but ahead of those shows they took the time to offer us a preview with a “Neighborhoods” performance of the single that lends the LP its title.

Performing “No Pain” in their friends’ backyard in Nashville on a rainy afternoon, Elke’s voice soars over the minimal accompaniment of acoustic guitar courtesy of Nick Aranda and Farro’s ambient synths. Far from the flourishes of disco and jazz that pull the LP in experimental directions, the performance cuts to the core of Graninger’s songwriting capabilities. Check out the video below, and if you live in any of the aforementioned cities you can find more details on those upcoming shows here.
