It’s been almost two years since the pandemic forced us all to slow down. Unable to continue life at our routine pace, lockdown left us with quite a lot of time to reflect. In her latest single “Candy + Curry,” singer-songwriter Erin Rae captures the slowed pace of early pandemic days. The single comes from her forthcoming album Lighten Up, the follow-up to 2018’s Putting on Airs, that’s out February 4 via Thirty Tigers.

“Candy + Curry is essentially a meditation, capturing those early spring days of slowing down in the pandemic,” Rae says. “I was living in my friend Taylor’s beautiful, rustic cabin in Madison, Tennessee and we were just cooking and hanging with the animals, going for lots of walks. Especially then, there was no choice really but to slow down and reflect. I made a four-track demo on my TASCAM, and Jonathan [Wilson] was able to take those thoughts and expand on them. I love how it turned out.”
