It’s been nearly five years since Alynda Segarra’s project Hurray for the Riff Raff released its last album The Navigator. Recently she announced its follow-up, titled Life on Earth, with the track “Rhododendron.” It was blood-pumping folk-rock akin to Bob Dylan that’s about “finding rebellion in plant life. Being called by the natural world and seeing the life that surrounds you in a way you never have.” Today, she’s shared another single called “Jupiter’s Dance.”

“Jupiters Dance” has a fierce yet tender tone matched with a gentle reggaeton beat. “I held on to only you / Can’t start a fire without my heart,” she sings, her voice a halo of love. “A song in the shape of a guardian angel,” Segarra said about the new song. “Protection prayer for us all as we live in uncertain and violent times. Manifesting blessings into reality. Posing the question that perhaps the future could be joyous as well as terrifying?”
