Earlier this year, founding member and drummer/trumpeter Steve Lamos announced his departure from American Football, marking the end of an era and a new beginning for the midwest emo band. As a way of closing that chapter, the group has shared two songs today: One is a new single called “Rare Symmetry,” and the other is a cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You,” which features guest vocals from alt-pop musician Miya Folick.

“I think all my friends are jealous that I’m on an American Football song,” Folick said in a statement. “I truly couldn’t believe when they asked me to sing with them. And to sing this song. Is there anyone who has heard ‘Fade Into You’ and not loved it? To me, it is a perfect song. I feel ancient when I sing it.”

The two songs are also getting a 10-inch vinyl release from Polyvinyl that’s out June 10. You can pre-order that here, and listen to the songs below.
