Earlier this month, rap/pop/R&B innovator Tierra Whack released a three-track EP titled RAP? A week later, she shared another three-track EP called POP? And, today she’s shared another EP called R&B? The titles of the three releases emphasize that Whack, like so many artists today, are experimenting outside the antiquated guardrails of genre. The new EP also comes with an Alex Lill–directed video for the opening track “Heaven.”

“Heaven has all my favorite people,” she sings in the track’s opening line. Later, she fantasizes about going there to put on show. “Open up those heaven gates / I just want to see your face,” she sings later on the sparse, sullen track. In the accompanying video, Whack is dressed in all black, holding an umbrella, and surrounded by darkness. The small beam of light illuminating her face also highlights the pouring rain.
