In 2015, we had to say goodbye to Motörhead founder Lemmy Kilmister. There’s no proper way to say goodbye when a loved one passes away. There’s certainly no rulebook for death. But in a paramount move, two road crew members from Motörhead honored Lemmy with a legendary tribute by getting tattoos using his ashes.

A video of the process, shared on Motörhead’s Instagram and Youtube, was posted on the anniversary of Kilmister’s death, which comes four days after his birthday. It features tour manager Eddie Rocha and production assistant Emma Cederblad receiving tattoos from ink mixed with Lemmy’s ashes. Rocha chose a portrait of Lemmy and Cederblad got a detailed spade. The video also shows the bullet casings that housed the late musician’s cremated remains, along with the message: “Motörhead for life means family.”
