There aren’t a lot of hip-hop projects closing in on 25 years of output that have remained as consistent in their vision over that time as Dälek, the prophetic industrial hip-hop duo founded in Newark in 1997. MC Dälek and Mike Mare are gearing up to release their eighth studio album this spring, and, based on its lead single and on-brand album artwork, Precipice hardly sounds far removed from their 2002 masterpiece From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots. The pounding bass and grinding instrumental immediately reminds us why they’ve been touring with experimental metal bands for years.

“It’s been such an arduous journey to get to this point,” the group shared in a Bandcamp email last night. “We can’t tell you how happy we are to finally share the first song and video 'Decimation (Dis Nation)' from the new album Precipice with all of you!”
