Barrie Lindsay, the songwriter and producer behind the project Barrie, is getting ready to release the follow-up to her 2019 debut album Happy to Be Here. We've already gotten a look at Barbara with four singles ("Jenny," "Quarry," "Frankie," and "Dig") that range from pearlescent synth-rock to lively folk-pop. Today, Barrie has shared the new track "Concrete," which is a tense inhale-exhale of vibrating synths and angelic vocals.

"['Concrete'] is about taking the time and energy to figure out who you are. Learning to take up space and be yourself, unapologetically," Barrie said. "This process can feel selfish and even sinister, depending on how you are conditioned socially…but the major modulation in the final chorus is about finding power and confidence in that self-actualization.”

"Concrete" comes with a video directed by Lindsay and Gabby Smith. Jordyn Tomlin joins the two directors as dancers in the visual, which is choreographed by Matilda Sakamoto. Together, the trio explore their bodies and awareness of space at all angles. Watch it below.
