Belle and Sebastian have announced their ninth studio album, Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance, out January 20 via Matador Records, and you can hear some of their new music now in a short behind-the-scenes clip from their time in the recording studio.
The Scottish band recorded the new album at Maze Studios in Atlanta under the guiding hand of producer Ben H. Allen III (best known for his work with Animal Collective and Gnarls Barkley). Working with a pop producer was a “sonically different” experience for the band, says drummer Richard Colburn in the short clip. Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance is the group’s first new material since 2010’s Write About Love.
As if the new album announcement wasn’t exciting enough, the band’s entire vinyl catalogue will also be back in print October 7, with new cover art for Dear Catastrophe Waitress and the compilation Push Barman To Open Old Wounds. More details about the reissues can be found here.
They’ll be playing a handful of US shows in the fall, with more 2015 dates set to be announced later this year. Check out the full list of US stops below.
