Chris Hess and Adam Winn, better known as Los Angeles’s own SWIMM, are like sharks—always moving forward. In between playing last month’s Red Bull Sound Select show with How to Dress Well and getting ready to rock Cedar Street Courtyard as part of our inaugural SXSW FLOODfest this afternoon, the alt-synth-pop duo managed to release an infectious stand-alone track entitled “Beverly Hells.”
Echoey vocals and bright rhythm guitar open the track simply, but around the one-minute mark, “Beverly Hells” opens up into a sonic wall of sound with dark synth lines and heavier bass riffs. There’s an ominous tone to the track’s sound and lyrics, but the beat is so inviting, one might not notice.
SWIMM is set to play FLOODfest today at 2 p.m. sharp. Make sure not to miss it!
