It’s been a decade now since Adam Hyde’s music career blew up as one half of Peking Duk, the Australian DJ duo whose Passion Pit bootleg remix grabbed the attention of the music blogosphere. Having just established his solo venture under the alter ego Keli Holiday by releasing his debut album KELI, Hyde is returning to the early-’10s indie blog scene’s dance canon for a victory lap in the form of a rousing cover of Robyn’s instant-classic “Dancing on My Own.”

“Robyn is a goddess and this song is a holy offering from the pop bible,” he shares of the track, which his band recently performed live as the result of a fan poll. “A beautiful yet tragic sentiment that I’m sure we’ve all felt at some point in our lives. I gave it the Keli Holiday sauce and added some grandiose strings to make it feel like the tormented yet hopeful message in the original.”

The cover arrives along with a video to give the viewer the full live effect, with strobing lights, frequent cuts to fans singing along, and an in-the-moment Hyde sweating through the familiar tune. “Playing this live has proven to be a huge highlight of the set and even induced some tears of pleasure and/or pain from some crowd members, so shout out to Robyn for making me feel like a heartbroken tearmaker,” he concludes.
