After reconvening a few years back for Awake in the Brain Chamber, their first album in over a decade, it seems as if space rockers Secret Machines had a few ideas brewing for their next step as a band. With the reveal of an EP of more new material titled Day 21 last month, they also shared that they were reissuing their 2008 single Dreaming of Dreaming—both releases being scheduled to drop on July 15.

With that release date arriving tomorrow, Brandon Curtis and Josh Garza are offering an early stream of the remaining four tracks after the band debuted Day 21’s title track and the Mavrogeorgis and Sclavunos version of “Dreaming of Dreaming” back in June. “I feel like at this point in my life I’m just interested in connecting with the process of making music in the most abstract sense,” Curtis shares in regard to the new material. “I think [‘Day 21’] is a good example of pursuing an idea without having a particular endpoint in mind. Sort of creating for the sake of creating.”

As for the decision to roll out both projects on the same date, he adds: “I think Josh and I are just reconnecting with the love of making and releasing music. These particular EPs are from different timeframes in our musical journey, but they represent something similar in that they both are from moments of change.”

Hear that change unfold in both projects below.
