After a particularly turbulent couple of years, Surf Curse recently announced a new album called Magic Hour, which will be the now-four-piece’s debut major-label release after signing with Atlantic Records—an achievement made possible by the strength of 2019’s Heaven Surrounds You, which, in turn, landed on plenty more ears due to the viral success of a decade-old recording on TikTok. After announcing the signing with the single “Sugar” back in March, the band is returning with another cut from the record, this time in the form of the high-energy “TVI” which replicates the early-Surf-Curse formula of mosh-friendly rousing choruses amplified by an expanded lineup.

With core band members Jacob Rubeck and Nick Rattigan’s love of movies being a pillar upon which the band’s always leaned, the music video that arrives with the track is yet another self-directed short film that sees the full group stumbling through a haunted house with chaos as the result. “‘TVI’ is an anthem about trying to stay out of trouble, whatever your trouble might be,” Rubeck noted in a press release. “The chorus chants ‘Take your time / Free your mind / I can do this everyday” as the mantra, but by ‘10 o’clock TVI give me mine take me away” you’ve succumbed…the ultimate loss of self and control…letting go.”
