Nearly a year after initially making the case for why it sucks to be human with their upbeat single “Sucks to Be Human,” India’s The F16’s are returning to build a deeply detailed visual world for the garage-rock-by-way-of-dance-pop single. The music video for the track from their EP Is It Time to Eat the Rich Yet? (released shortly after the song last October) sees the band engaging in the types of humiliating synchronized dances trending across TikTok—as major label marketing teams take note, much to their artists’ chagrin—within the less familiar setting of an extraterrestrial stage.

“The music video has the band shoved into an interplanetary talent show in a desperate attempt to save the Earth,” explains the band’s Abhinav Krishnaswamy—a premise made apparent as the song’s title appears on-screen at the beginning of the visual in a font that recalls a program like America’s Got Talent. “The four literally bend over backwards, focusing their sights on religious fervor, dictatorial regimes, and bards of Bitcoin in a desperate attempt to sway a maniacal jury of extraterrestrials that prides itself on being difficult to please.”
