For many of us, Lucid Express’ reverb-drenched self-titled debut album came out of nowhere when it hit last year. Yet the true heads out there know that the Hong Kong–based dream-pop collective released an equally engaging EP titled Floret back in 2015 before they signed with Kanine Records in the US—a previously inaccessible collection of songs which their label is conspiring to revive for their newfound fanbase.
On October 21, Floret will be re-released by Kanine expanded from its original four-song tracklist to also include five remixes from artists across the globe who’ve been inspired by Lucid Express’ music since then, including Yuck’s Max Bloom and fellow shoegazers Ringo Deathstarr’s Elliott Frazier. The latter remix arrives today alongside all of this news with the Floret track “Lime” taking a post-punkier, more industrially explosive turn under the watch of Frazier.
