Dev Hynes has kept so busy over the past few years—collaborating with the likes of Turnstile, Mykki Blanco, The Avalanches, and Wet; soundtracking film and TV projects for Luca Guadagnino, Gia Coppola, Paul Schrader, and Rebecca C. Hall; and touring all the while, most recently with none other than spitgate perp Harry Styles—that it’s easy to forget there hasn’t been a new Blood Orange release since 2018’s Negro Swan and the Angel’s Pulse mixtape that dropped the following year.

That all changes next week with Hynes announcing a new self-produced EP simply titled Four Songs today, which arrives next Friday and which features guest spots from Ian Isaiah, Eva Tolkin, and Erika de Casier. The first taste of the project also arrives today with the characteristically smooth EP opener “Jesus Freak Lighter,” an upbeat, dream-pop/R&B cut with a guest spot from Isaiah. Check out a visualizer for the track below, and catch Hynes opening for Harry at Madison Square Garden through the rest of the month if you can.
