Rowdy rock 'n' roll rabble-rousers Dehd released their latest album Blue Skies this past May, but they've already returned with a new tune. Blue Skies seemed to hone further in on the crunchy, slacker-rock tendencies they perfected on 2020's Flowers of Devotion. Now, their new single "Eggshells" takes the trio in a trippy, unexpected direction.

"Eggshells" still has that muddied psychedelic catchiness (think Beach Boys meshed with The 13th Floor Elevators) that Dehd are great at supplying. The single is already a bit slower for Dehd's standards, but at one point their vocal harmonies melt in on themselves. As the song revs up again, their vocals are left lowered and warped. The bizarre pacing fits the tracks kiss-off attitude: "Walk along, walk along / Eggshells / I'm done, I'm done / Better off, better off, on my own," goes the chorus.

The single also comes with a black-and-white video directed by the band's Emily Kempf along with Kevin Veselka that was shot in Taos, New Mexico. Check it out below.
