After releasing a series of EPs, Hudson, New York–based duo Babehoven are gearing up to release their debut full-length through Double Double Whammy at the end of October. Having already shared a pair of singles from Light Moving Time, today Maya Bon and Ryan Albert are unveiling the record’s soft closer “Often,” a spacious acoustic ballad veering from the woozy alt-country and upbeat folk-rock previewed on “I’m on Your Team” and “Stand It.” “‘Often’ is a song about grief, about holding love for a person I’ve lost, about trying to let go and find new paths for myself,” Bon shares of the solemn track. “This song changed my life when I wrote it and has provided clarity for me in times of chaos.”

Matching the track’s reflective sound is a music video directed by Kevin Prince which compiles scenes from a road trip, with fond memories of late-night swims and dramatic scenes from a local race track laid over each other and frequently drowned out in bright light. “To me, the video feels like an allegory for life,” Bon adds. “Vignettes of intensity, connectivity, beauty, destruction, lightness, and darkness are both literally and metaphorically pieced together to create a sense of meaning and meaninglessness all at once.”
