Among the countless new friendships forged between musicians shooting their shots in each others DMs at the onset of the pandemic, the ongoing live collaboration between NY-based producer and songwriter sadie and her West Coast counterpart Orchin originated with the former discovering the latter’s then-newly released LP Serene, which inspired her to reach out and become IRL friends after communicating remotely through the early days of COVID. Each artist boasting their own unique take on hyperpop, it felt natural that some shared artistic vision would emerge soon after.

The result arrived ahead of the release show for sadie’s debut EP Nowhere earlier this year, when she inquired about remixing Serene’s standout track “My Wish,” swapping his warbly falsetto for her own Auto-Tune-touched-up vocals, and the original’s bedroom-pop instrumental for something considerably more upbeat. “We performed the remix live together a few times, and people started asking me to put it out,” she shares. “The original ‘My Wish’ was already a perfect song, and I’m so honored that Jeremy let me make it into a hyperpop banger. We were joking that his version is the ‘LA version’ and mine is the ‘NYC version.’”
