In many ways, the debut record from LA dream pop collective Powder Pink & Sweet has been a long time coming. Although they only formed six years ago, frontperson Cris Verso has been involved in different bands spanning various genres for quite some time, initially launching the outfit as a means of expressing grief following the passing of her mother. Now, with Little Stories set to drop on November 4, the project has coalesced into a cathartic whole. “These songs represent the struggle to balance hope and positivity with an undercurrent of melancholia and heartache,” Verso explained when the record was announced.

Ahead of that release date, though, the band is sharing another sample in the form of the gossamer ballad “My Fragile Heart,” which leans as much into the feather-light textures of Cocteau Twins and Julee Cruise as it does the tunneling guitar riffs of dream pop’s sister genre shoegaze. Verso describes the track as “a vulnerable and honest unpacking of emotions” which “captures those things we all feel but rarely say as she rallies her heart not to break one more time.” She continues: “With a gentle, swaying 6/8 rhythm and soothing lyrics, this song feels like a lullaby for our time. The delicate layering of guitars and soft sighing vocals draw you in and immerse you into a beautiful dreamy world.”

Below you can find a video the band put together for the single, overlaying footage of Verso performing the track with scenes of a ballet dancer moving to the song’s gentle swells. You can pre-save the track here, and pre-order Little Stories here.
