At the beginning of next month, Sam Hall—a.k.a. Ghost Orchard—will share his first album since releasing 2019’s Bunny, with the forthcoming Rainbow Music marking his first record with Winspear after launching the project with Orchid Tapes in 2015. Where that album married minimal trap beats with his former label’s hypnagogic bedroom-pop textures, thus far Rainbow Music reins in the experimentation a bit for a more focused collection building upon Hall’s strengths.

Ahead of its November 4 release date, though, Ghost Orchard is sharing another single in the form of “Jessamine,” a miniaturized take on drum-and-bass paired with Hall’s pitched-up and glitched-out vocals. What would come across as anxious in the hands of an artist like Venetian Snares the track peripherally pulls from instead soundtracks a calm transition into sweater weather leading up to the album’s release.
