The last two years in particular have allowed us ample time for reflection, and the new album from Nashville-based band Colony House couldn’t have been written under any other circumstances. The Tennessee quartet’s new material builds on the bold and vibrant sound they’ve become known for; if you’re just catching up, their third album Leave What’s Lost Behind was released in January of 2020, and it would be fair to say that record didn’t get its dues. They’re making up for that early next year, though.

Last month, the band announced LP4, The Cannonballers, along with a glimpse into its world via the explosive title track—the first cut from a record that’s inspired by the isolation of a time where they should have been touring its predecessor, as well as falling back in love with where they’re from. Vocalist Caleb Chapman explains: “The pandemic was the first time since high school that I had been off the road for an entire year. We got to see the seasons change and experience our home again for the first time in a long time. I think I was falling back in love with Tennessee and realizing how special it is to be born and raised in such a beautiful place.”

Today we have a first look at the video for Colony House’s new single, “Landlocked Surf Rock,” which looks like it was a lot of fun to make. Directed by Chapman and Elliot Eicheldinger, it features some impressively literal visual takes on the song’s lyrics, and pairs up with a song that’s pretty much guaranteed to get stuck in your head. Tune in below.

The band are also lining up a huge 34-date tour in support of the forthcoming album, which kicks off with a hometown show on February 11 at the Ryman Auditorium, and wraps on April 6 in Englewood, Colorado, with Dallas band Little Image supporting on the whole run. Full details below via the poster. The Cannonballers arrives February 3 via Roon Music.
