Magdalena Bay, the synth-pop duo of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin, are taking some much needed downtime after an extensive tour of the US in support of their debut album Mercurial World, released last fall, and the deluxe edition of that LP, which they released back in September before they hit the road. The record took a unique approach to electronic music, shifting somewhat from the more standard sounds of their earlier material. “We weren’t as afraid to delve into the weirder or darker stuff,” Tenenbaum told us when we spoke with the pair on the heels of that project. “Maybe before we were more focused with the escapism of what pop should be.”

Before the group’s next chapter, Tenenbaum and Lewin stepped up to the DJ booth for a new episode of FLOOD FM’s “Hacked,” which sees them spinning an eclectic mix of some of their recent favorite songs by artists ranging from Toro y Moi to Steely Dan. Kicking off today, December 5, and running through Friday, December 9, catch the episode every day at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5.p.m., and 10 p.m. PT on FLOOD FM here.
