While dream-pop has been having a moment for some time now, Malmö trio Death and Vanilla bring to this revival a dedication to vintage instrumentation adding another layer of nostalgia to the mix. “Find Another Illusion,” the lead single from the band’s forthcoming album Flicker, introduced the project with a subtly expanding network of guitar and organ familiar to both the psychedelic sounds of the ’60s and the more subtle ethereal wave that rose to prominence in the ’80s.

This hybrid is also fully intact on the second single from the LP arriving today called “Looking Glass.” True to its name, the tunneling track takes you deeper into its entrancing soundscape while the hypnotically repetitious lyrics paradoxically invite you to escape what haunts you once they hit nearly two minutes into the track. “[It’s] like a Fleetwood Mac fever dream with a cinematic feel to it,” the band quips.
