Japanese-Australian brother/sister duo Lastlings first made contact back in 2020 with their debut First Contact, which landed somewhere between the dancey indie-rock of Two Door Cinema Club (with whom they’ve toured) and the clubbier sounds of SG Lewis (who’s worked with them on the production side). Lately, the pair have unveiled a couple of singles through RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue Records, which hint at the direction their next LP will take, with the most recent cut “Holding Me Like Water” breaking new instrumental ground and the lyrics taking a more vulnerable turn.
As we continue to anticipate more singles from Josh and Amy Dowdle, the siblings swung by FLOOD FM to record an all-new episode of “Hacked” that spans the same range of sounds the duo experiment within, with FKA twigs, Thom Yorke, Everything But the Girl, and Massive Attack all featured in their set. The episode launches today and runs every day at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT through Friday, February 3. Tune in here.
