Kelela is releasing RAVEN, the follow-up to 2017's Take Me Apart, this Friday. We've already gotten to step inside Kelela's world with the tactile singles "Washed Away," "Happy Ending," "On the Run," and "Contact." Today, she's shared the final single and the new album's penultimate track, "Enough for Love."
Kelela emphasizes love's formidable nature on the slow-burning single. "Are you tough enough for love?" she queries. She encourages communication and trust, asking what the walls her significant other puts up are doing for them—are they protecting, or are they keeping out something good? Kelela is patient here, understanding that it takes time to accept tenderness and to give in to vulnerability. But how long? "But you forgot about us," she reminds. "No, you're not alone." It's a gripping and compassionate breakdown of one's hesitations to love and the impact on the partner patiently waiting with open arms.
