After a decade of constant evolution within the rap game, NOLAN fka (formerly known as Nolan the Ninja) is announcing his next chapter today with a new album title don’t get TOO excited with its lead single “QT (let’s chill)” hinting at a return to the very beginning. In addition to the DIY aesthetic his self-made album cover mines, the vibrant, breezy, and neon-tinted cut is an homage to his early days of stringing upbeat verses through lo-fi beats and live instrumentation, in this case providing the perfect soundtrack to the upcoming February holiday—though the “QT” of its title may have a second meaning.
“I came up with ‘QT’ in 2020 during quarantine,” the rapper shares. “The track helped me shape the sound and direction of my forthcoming project, don’t get TOO excited. I think songs about being in love, being in ‘like,’ or just admiring one’s beauty are the easiest to create. I also love flipping jams that I grew up on and genuinely enjoy. Not to mention the rich sound it carries; my everlasting nod to the lo-fi/hip-hop community that helped me become the artist I am today.”
