A few weeks back, Phoenix and Beck announced a co-headlining North American tour, which will see the indie-rock heavyweights share the stage with high-caliber openers including Japanese Breakfast, Jenny Lewis, and Weyes Blood. While Phoenix have a full album’s worth of new material to play through in addition to their two-plus decades of output, Beck hasn’t released anything since 2019’s Hyperspace.
Yet today we’re getting a new single from the songwriter titled “Thinking About You,” which sees him shift back to his folkier side last heard on 2014’s Morning Phase, even recalling the somber post-break-up balladry of Sea Change from a decade prior. Stripped to little more than guitar and harmonica, it’s a back-to-basics single following the synthy atmospherics of “Uneventful Days.” Hear it below, and check out Beck’s tour schedule with Phoenix here.
