Sabrina Teitelbaum, a.k.a. Blondshell, is sharing her debut self-titled album on Friday. Today, she shares the sixth and final single from the record, "Salad," which serves as her most unforgettable track to date—which is saying something, considering they're all basically bangers.
"Salad" is a vengeful fantasy about going after a sinister abuser that got off with a slap on the wrist. “Look what you did, you’ll make a killer of a Jewish girl," she sings. The rage seeps into her dreams: "Now in my sleep I am a murderer." It's a chilling, validating anthem for those folded into their emotions when the justice system fails the blood, tears, and trauma of a loved one. It's an instant classic and necessary bit of catharsis for anyone looking to reconcile pain-fueled, hypocritical visions.
"It’s hard to summarize what this album means to me," she said about the upcoming project. "I was able to work through so much by writing and singing these songs. In a way I was also able to find my voice by finally saying these things out loud. I wasn’t intending to write an album as much as I was just trying to get relief from an intense and difficult time in my life. My biggest hope is that people can see the album for what it is: there’s no happy ending or ‘message,’ it’s just a window into what it’s like when you’re trying to figure out who you are and what you want.”
