The last we heard of psych-jazz group Crumb was their 2021 album Ice Melt. Their silence is no more: Today they returned with new single "Crushxd," which was co-produced with Jonathan Rado and Johnscott Sanford, both of whom they've worked with over the years. It also precedes their upcoming US tour that begins April 25. The single's devastating and unexpected inspiration traces back five years to their biggest tour at the time.

"In 2018, we went on our first big US tour," the band explained. "We were beginning to write the instrumental to a new song and started playing it live every night. It didn’t have any words yet, just a nice techno groove… On our way to one of the shows, a little turtle appeared out of nowhere and crossed in front of our car—it was crushed instantly. After that experience, Lila wrote the words to the song. The song is a celebration of the turtle’s life, honoring its journey on the road up until its tragic death. LONG LIVE TURTLE."
