While there are clear themes of self-betterment running through most of the media being created by Bunny Michael between their podcast, their narrative web series, and their forthcoming debut book, none of these works quite reach the level of immediacy heard on their new EP Angels Everywhere. Arriving in full this Friday, the five-track collection blends hard-hitting raps with equally disruptive club beats while contextualizing their musings on self-love within the increasingly unignorable darkness of the present moment.

On the latest sample of the collection, “Sure Thing,” Michael focuses their attention on the love of others and the relatable plight of feeling invisible in such a fast-moving time period. “I don’t know what the future brings / Apocalypse, wild things / End of days or a wedding ring / But baby I’m a sure thing,” they deadpan on the chorus over a sparse trap beat and warm synth tones. “This is a love ballad for the end of times,” Michael shares, “[my] plea for affection in a world of uncertainty symbolizes both our collective angst and deep desire to feel seen.”
