While ex-HOLYCHILD vocalist Liz Nistico has been teasing her debut LP as Revenge Wife for a little while now, the smattering of singles she’s released thus far have crafted a pretty strong narrative in their own right. While Nistico’s visceral songwriting has plenty to do with that, it’s actually her work in video that’s mostly to thank for this. So far, “The Revenge Wife Story” (as it’s billed on YouTube) features seven official videos for seven Revenge Wife tracks, all self-directed, -written, and -choreographed.

The latest installment arrives today with the visual for her recent track “Niente,” a vaporous, surreal cut sung entirely in Italian (and through heavy vocoder) over minimal synths. The video for the track is a film within a film of sorts, with Nistico imposed over herself in bright and ever-shifting colors dancing to the track. “Recently I played SXSW, and while I was there I was wondering how much my life has really changed,” she reflects. “I was checking into the convention center in Austin and it made me think of being 14 years old checking into random cities’ hotels for dance competitions. The video for ‘Niente’ feels like such a culmination of my life thus far—not only is the song in Italian, reminding me of my connection with Italy and my family there, but also the dance aspect. I wanted the dance part to intersect with itself, and after 10 years of directing music videos, I think I was able to pull it off!”
