Earlier this year, Little Rock–based artist Kari Faux teased the follow-up to 2020's Lowkey Superstar with the single "Me First." Now, we have a little more context for the track as Faux has announced a new album it will appear on: REAL B*TCHES DON'T DIE! is out May 26 via drink sum wtr. The 13-track LP features the late Gangsta Boo, Big K.R.I.T. (on the previously released "Turnin' Heads"), Jazz Cartier, TheMIND, and Devin the Dude. The majority of the album was produced by GRAMMY-winning artist Phoelix, with additional credits from 2forwOyNE and Park Ave.
"After years of subjecting myself to 'industry standards' and becoming completely depressed by them, I decided to go home, which was completely grounding," Faux shared. "This album is my best work yet and it's an homage to the loved ones I've lost, Southern rap, and my ability to alchemize pain that would break some people. My friend and collaborator, TheMIND, convinced me to go to Chicago and work with him and Phoelix. Phoelix and I ultimately fell in love over the course of making this album and that love is in every fiber of this album.”
