Remi Wolf already has a busy summer planned, with appearances scheduled for Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, and several other high-profile festivals. But that’s not all—the songwriter has new recordings set to appear in two upcoming series: she has a cover of Nat King Cole’s “Autumn Leaves” tied to the Este Haim–curated soundtrack for the forthcoming National Geographic doc series A Small Light and an original song called “Prescription” planned for the new Prime series from Boots Riley, who you may know as the director of Sorry to Bother You or from fronting The Coup.
It’s this latter single Wolf is sharing today, both in its single version and in its extended seven-minute iteration. Based on both hers and Riley’s accounts, the song came together surprisingly quickly. “A few months ago, Boots Riley called me and we spoke about his new tv show ‘I’m a Virgo,’” Wolf tweeted a few weeks ago. “24 hours later - this song was made inspired by that convo and it is being featured in the tv show out this summer. I loved it and wanted to share it with you all.”
“Remi Wolf did the fastest turn around4a song thats absolutely perfect for the I'm A Virgo scene its in,” Riley confirmed via quote retweet. “The song is a future classic. I called her up, talked about the scene, put my phone down. The next time I checked texts, this song, Prescription, was there.”
Check out a visualizer for the full version of the track below, and expect I’m a Virgo—a series about “a 13ft tall Black man who lives in Oakland, CA,” per Riley’s Twitter bio—out this summer.
