When we last checked in with Swiss psych-rockers Annie Taylor, the band was showing us around an old-fashioned Zurich bathhouse while performing songs from their last album, 2020’s debut full-length Sweet Mortality. It’s a bit of a change of scenery, then, to get another dispatch from the band—who have since announced their follow-up record, Inner Smile—here in LA, as they traverse the familiar scenes of Hollywood, Santa Monica Beach, Venice Beach, and DTLA in the music video for new single “Ride High.”
Similarly, the music itself has seen a shift from the psychedelic textures of their last outing into janglier terrain. Appropriately, the track’s lyrics address such changes, specifically those in our personal lives. “Sometimes I feel like friends and family are drifting away, following different paths in life,” vocalist Gini Jungi shares. “Of course, that hurts, but also makes me realize how important it is to look closely on our own path of life and that everyone is responsible for their own luck somehow.”
Check out the scenes from LA below, and expect Inner Smile out July 7 via Taxi Gauche Records.
